The One World Center for Autism, Inc.

The One World Center is laying the foundation for dynamic changes in the autism community of Prince Georges County with two phases of service provision.

•Phase I: Provision of Pre-Center Family Support Services with the partnership of County Organizations. continue scrolling down to view all of our current services and partners.

•Phase II: Provision of family support services, informational resources, community awareness, and coordinated multi-disciplinary healthcare housed under one roof in a centrally located area of our county. Please open the link on your left to learn more about our future services.

OWCA Family Fun Days- Fun days for the entire family of all special needs children at the movies, splash pool, children’s gym, and other fun-filled venues! Open the Events link for upcoming events!


Our World, Our Time- A monthly respite day for parents of children ages 3-7 with autism featuring arts and crafts, social circle, music, movies, and other fun activities for children with autism .



The Goals of our program are as follows:





 Provision of a mental health break for parents

 The encouragement and facilitation of friendships

 The promotion of social awareness and skills

 Celebration of each child’s unique personality and abilities

 Having loads of fun!



Program Details

The fostering of developmentally appropriate social skills in a safe environment is essential to the success of each child. Our play date activities and themes will vary according to each group and month. Below you will find more details.



Date: 2nd Saturday of every month



From September through June





Time: 12:00- 4:00 pm



Location: Huntington Community Center (location will change in the later part of 2010)

Cost: Free; however, children must be residents of Prince Georges County. Children are also required to bring a designated supply from the attached list which will assist our non-profit in providing a quality and safe program. See attached Supplies List.



How to register?

Contact OWCA via email at ourworldourtime@verizon.net above to obtain a registration packet which will include the following:



•Childcare Waiver

•Authorization for photo release

•Child Profile- Medical Emergency Form Questionnare

•Parent Caregiver Policy Brochure & Affadavit of reciept

•You must also provide proof of your child’s autism diagnosis.

This can be an IEP, medical report, or IFSP with teachers recommendation on official Prince Georges County School letterhead



•Proof of county residency. If you have provided an IEP or any other school document this requirement would be satisfied.



Deadlines

Participants will be sent an e-invitation every month. Children will be enrolled in the order that they respond. Every effort will be made to accommodate families that enroll in a timely manner. Registration and reservations must be completed and received 10 days prior to the date of the respite day. Peace for Pieces- A quarterly Parent Impact Luncheon featuring an empowering discussion for adults along with a social play-date for children with autism and their siblings.
